Julian Opie

For the view through the desktop I could use Julian Opie style of work. His portraits are characterized by black outlines with flat areas of colour with minimal detail. His most famous work was the album colour for blur (below). It might be more effective and look better if I was just to use only black outlines and no colour. I will test both out and see what ones are better.

Cartoon vs. Real Life ad

I found this on youtube, its just a similar thing to my idea. It shows reality next to fake (cartoon).

Kanye West; Goodlife Music Video

In kanye West’s goodlife video there is a point where him and T-Pain hold a photo frame like object. When they are viewed through it they go colourful. This is shown around 1 minute 42 seconds into the video.

Final Idea

The idea I have at the moment is a transparent desktop that reveals a cartoon world while viewed through the screen, below is an example of my idea and how everything looks through the laptop screen.

Transparent Desktops

From researching into transparent desktops, and experimenting with video I have decided to push this idea further. I found some people experimenting with video transparent desktops on you tube.

Anamorphic Illusion Car Park

This shows how anamorphic is used to give the people directions while driving in this multistory car park. The words are only seen properly from a certain angle or perspective. From other angles the text may appear distorted and look like random blocks of colour.

Anamorphosis Advertisement

This is an advertisement for paint, they have painted the car park floor as if the paint has fallen over and spilled everywhere. This is a good way to get peoples attention and get them to look at the billboard.

Slim Fast Billboard

This is example of Perspective anamorphosis. When you look at this billboard from the front you’ll see a rather fat woman. Then when you see the same image to the side you’ll see the woman a lot thinner and holding a can of slim fast.

Chop Cup

This is another example of anamorphosis. It is showing how you can be tricked into thinking something is real.
